A Clean Climate solar install from above
Rooftop solar on a New Zealand home, installed and commissioned by our registered team.
Solar Power
Solar systems designed around how
your home uses power
Panels, inverters, batteries and EV charging, specified, installed and certified by one local team. New build or existing roof, we size solar around how you actually use power, then handle the network approvals and paperwork so you do not have to.
Lower, more predictable bills
Every kilowatt-hour you self-consume is one you don’t buy. Most households offset a large share of daytime load, and a battery lets you store surplus daytime generation for use during the evening peak.
Protection from price rises
Generating your own solar power reduces how much electricity you need to buy from the grid, helping protect you from future price rises.
Backup when the grid drops
With a hybrid inverter and battery, nominated circuits such as the fridge, lights, internet and heat pump keep running through an outage.
Better use of an EV or hot water
Shifting EV charging and hot water heating into daylight hours is the fastest way to lift your savings without changing how you live.
Value for new builds
Designing solar in at consent stage means clean cable runs, appropriate roof space and fewer retrofit compromises.
Lower emissions
Clean generation on your own roof, backed by a team that already handles your heating and ventilation.
What’s in a solar system
A well-designed solar system is about more than just the panels. Each component needs to work together efficiently. Here’s what we specify and why.
Solar panels
Tier-1 monocrystalline panels chosen for New Zealand conditions, with long performance warranties and roof-specific mounting for tile, colour steel or membrane roofs.
Inverter
String or hybrid inverter sized to your array. A hybrid inverter means a battery can be added later without replacing hardware.
Battery storage
Battery storage starts at around 5 kWh and is sized to suit your evening power use, with backup circuits so essentials keep running in an outage.
Monitoring
App-based monitoring shows generation, consumption, export and battery state, so you can see exactly what the system is doing.
EV charging
7 kW or 22 kW chargers that can be set to top up from surplus solar rather than the grid.
Grid connection
We handle the network application, export approval and metering changes with your lines company and retailer.

What size system do you need?
This is a guide only. We size every system on your actual consumption data, roof space and orientation, not a rule of thumb.
3 – 5 kW
Smaller households, 1–2 people, modest daytime use
~12–20 kWh/day in summer
6 – 8 kW
Typical family home with a heat pump and hot water cylinder
~24–33 kWh/day in summer
9 – 12 kW
Larger homes, EV charging, pool or spa
~36–50 kWh/day in summer
Battery storage & blackout backup
A battery lets you use more of your own solar after dark and can keep essential circuits running during a power outage.
No. If you install a hybrid inverter now, you can add battery storage at any stage without replacing major equipment. We often recommend monitoring your usage for 6–12 months first to see exact generation and self-consumption numbers.
Most residential batteries range from 5 kWh to 15 kWh. We size the battery to match your typical evening and overnight consumption so you’re not paying for excess capacity you don’t use.
With emergency power supply (EPS) backup circuits wired into your switchboard, essential circuits like lighting, fridge/freezer, internet, and select power points will continue running seamlessly during a grid outage.
Modern lithium-ion solar batteries typically carry a 10-year warranty and are rated for 6,000+ cycles, retaining substantial capacity well beyond a decade of daily charge and discharge cycles.

We inspect your switchboard, wiring, earth and load, then explain exactly what needs upgrading and why.
2
Clear quote & plan
Fixed-price quote with staged work options so you can stay in your home while we work.
3
Isolation & safety
Circuits isolated safely and power arranged room-by-room where possible, with minimal disruption.
4
Upgrade & fit-off
We install the new switchboard, circuits, fittings and connections to current standards and leave the work area tidy.
5
Test & certify
Full testing, Certificate of Compliance and Electrical Safety Certificate issued for your records.
6
Handover & aftercare
We show you the new board and circuits, then stay on hand for solar, EV charging or future work.
Signs your home needs an upgrade
If you recognise any of these, it’s worth booking an assessment before adding solar, an EV charger or a heat pump.

- Fuses or breakers that trip regularly
- A ceramic-fuse or fuse-wire switchboard with no RCD protection
- Warm, discoloured or buzzing outlets and switches
- Lights that flicker or dim when appliances start
- Not enough outlets, so multi-boards are permanent fixtures
- Planning solar, an EV charger or a heat pump on an older board

Frequently asked questions
Yes. All electrical work is carried out by EWRB-registered electricians and backed by the appropriate insurance and certifications.
Savings depend on your roof, orientation, power use and system size. Most households offset a meaningful portion of daytime use, and batteries help capture evening savings. We run the numbers for your actual bill before quoting.
Yes. We often design systems with a hybrid inverter so a battery can be added without replacing core hardware.
We stage the work and isolate circuits room-by-room where possible. Most switchboard replacements are completed in a day with short, planned power outages.
